Since this is the inaugural post for The Pretty Party, it seems fitting that we share a little more about how this whole vision came to be. Since we started collaborating in 2005, Lexi and I have been tossing around ideas about how to pull-off a mega make over event that not only appealed to our peers, but also tied in the philanthropic goals of charities that we’d worked with over the years. Project after project of planning and promoting with NBA and NFL clients (and their mothers/wives) gave us the experience we needed to see first hand how perfect such an event could be. Finally in 2009, with the help of Jamal Brown (New Orleans Saints) and another notable NFL player, we kicked off our very first Pretty Party in Houston, TX. I think as we approached the day of the affair, we expected a great turn out but certainly nothing like the what its become. Even before we’d closed the studio doors for the evening, we were getting requests to do ANOTHER one… and ANOTHER one. And right there, The Pretty Party was born.
This past year of organization and laying the foundation for The Pretty Party has been full of growing pains and sacrifices to get us to THIS point. But now that we’re here, roughly 6 events and 4 cities deep, we’ve placed 200% of our faith in the Lord to not only bless this venture, but to continue using The Pretty Party to be a blessing to women AND men, girls AND boys, everywhere.
To everyone that’s stood behind Lexi and me and helped us develop this pretty picture… for being patient and understanding when we’ve had to reschedule personal plans because business called… for encouraging us to stay with it and to not settle for anything less than perfection… for every thin dime and endorsed check given to support our events… to all the talented photographers, make-up artists and stylists who’ve worked tirelessly for low (and sometimes no) pay just so that we could complete the task on budget… WE THANK YOU.
And just know that as The Pretty Party takes flight, that we will do everything that we can to show our gratitude.
Prettily Yours,
Summer G
